Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Foxes Southern Tanzania Safari?

The Foxes Southern Tanzania Safari is a classic itinerary inspired by the historic Foxes Safari Camps, focusing on the wild and less, crowded southern parks. It typically includes destinations like Nyerere National Park and Ruaha National Park. This safari is all about raw wilderness, fewer tourists, and a deeper connection with nature. You’ll explore vast landscapes that feel untouched and authentic. It’s perfect for travelers looking for a more off, the, beaten, path experience.

What makes Southern Tanzania different from the Northern Circuit?

Southern Tanzania offers a quieter and more remote safari experience compared to the popular northern parks. In places like Ruaha National Park, you can go hours without seeing another vehicle. The landscapes are vast and varied, from baobab, studded plains to river systems full of wildlife. The focus here is more on exploration and solitude rather than ticking off famous sights. It’s ideal for travelers who want a more exclusive and peaceful safari.

What wildlife can I expect to see?

Southern Tanzania is rich in wildlife and offers excellent game viewing. You can expect to see elephants, lions, buffalo, giraffes, and large herds of antelope. Nyerere National Park is also known for wild dogs, which are harder to spot elsewhere. Birdlife is abundant, especially along rivers and wetlands. The diversity and fewer crowds make wildlife encounters feel more natural and special.

What activities are included in this safari?

This safari offers more than just traditional game drives. In Nyerere National Park, you can enjoy boat safaris along the Rufiji River, giving a different perspective of wildlife. Walking safaris are also popular, allowing you to experience the bush on foot with a guide. In Ruaha, game drives focus on tracking predators and exploring remote areas. These varied activities make the safari more dynamic and adventurous.

When is the best time to visit Southern Tanzania?

The best time to visit is during the dry season from June to October. Wildlife gathers around rivers and water sources, making it easier to spot animals. The weather is also more comfortable, with less rain and better road conditions. The green season from November to May brings lush landscapes and fewer visitors, but some camps may close. Choosing the right time depends on whether you prefer peak wildlife viewing or a quieter, scenic experience.
