There are a number of optional activities that may be included to fit around your basic safari program.
You may wish to capture a little of the traditional East African culture with a visit to a local village whilst you are in Arusha, near Lake Manyara or Ngorongoro, or at the base of Mount Kilimanjaro.
Many of the cultural programs are run by the local villages in conjunction with the Government Authority, which serves to assist the local people with village development and conservation projects. Your visit directly benefits the villages – we do not make any profit from these tours.

Which communities can I visit during a cultural tour?

You can also meet the Hadzabe bushmen near Lake Eyasi or the Chagga people near Mount Kilimanjaro. Each group offers a unique perspective on life, from pastoralism to farming and hunting. These interactions are often guided to ensure respect and cultural understanding.
What activities are included in cultural programs?

Reputable operators work closely with villagers to ensure fair compensation and authentic interactions. When done responsibly, they create meaningful connections for both visitors and hosts.
Can I combine cultural experiences with a safari?
Absolutely, cultural programs are often combined with wildlife safaris in Tanzania. For example, after exploring Serengeti National Park, you can visit nearby communities for a different kind of experience. This combination gives you a well, rounded journey that includes both nature and culture. It also adds depth to your understanding of the region. Many travelers find this mix to be one of the most rewarding parts of their trip.
